What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Terrabyte, LLC) are called “first party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third party cookies". Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

How do we use cookies and similar technologies?

As advocates for digital privacy, we're happy to report that we don't use cookies on our website (terrabyte.eco). By carefully planning and implementing our site functionality and service partners, you should not find any first party or third party cookies on our site.

With that being said - we do use web technologies that, like cookies, have the ability to store data to, and read from, your browser. In using your browser's Local Storage, we are able to store data used across our site's webpages, such as making changes to site settings (i.e. turning on Dark Mode) and dismissing banners (i.e. accepting our Privacy Policy/Cookie Policy banner).

Other pages we manage that link to this Privacy Policy use similar web technologies, but may also incorporate third-party cookies. These exceptions include the Pinekeepers website (pinekeepers.com), the Pixel Planet Today website (pixelplanettoday.com), the Pixel Planet Today blog (blog.pixelplanettoday.com), and the Pixel Planet Today webstore (shop.pixelplanettoday.com or pixelplanettoday.square.site).
